about maron

From a very early age, Maron Craig Bielovitz has been making art of one kind or another. Although she enjoys working in a myriad of mediums, she especially enjoys doing mixed media pieces and collage art. To take disparate objects, old and new, found or purchased, shiny or rusty and make those objects come together in a new kind of harmony is just the kind of magic that Maron performs to create her one of a kind art.

Her pieces usually start with a beautifully textured background painting in acrylics or watercolor and then the layering begins. She pulls objects together from her “stash” that she feels will compliment each other on this particular background. She often uses antique and vintage papers or objects in her collages, giving them a nostalgic and sometimes Victorian feeling. From vintage books with yellowed pages to flea market finds, nothing is off limits if her imagination can fit it into a picture story.

Maron works out of her home studio in Elmhurst, Pennsylvania. in the foothills of the beautiful Pocono Mountains, where she lives with her husband Don and their two Scottish Terriers, Maggie and Fergus. She enjoys gardening, reading, Mah Jongg, writing and volunteer work. Although she has studied Oil, Acrylic, Watercolor, Sculpting, Pottery and Graphic Art in a class room or studio setting, Maron is largely a self-taught artist who is constantly researching,  refining and developing new techniques. And having recently retired after 20+ years as a Realtor, she is now happy to be a full time artist.
