Maybe the owls only appear when I work in my own studio because last night I went to the community pottery studio and something different came out of the clay.....

Goofy Birds…..

Well, I worked at the community clay studio last night and something different sprung from the lump of clay instead of owls!! These silly little birds had everyone smiling....

This guy is sort of... but not quite... a toucan

One of my pottery pals has claimed this cutie for her own!

Owls keep emerging from the lump of clay but maybe the next one will be something different?

Fowled again!

Another owl....I know, I'll try for something different next time but these owls keep emerging from the lump of clay!

This one looks like royalty somehow!!

Fowl number two is also a fairy house....can't help myself!!

Fowl Challenge…

The second bird in my fowl challenge happens to also be a fairy house (I can't help myself!) with another owl in a window. He looks very happy with himself that he has found such a nice place to live...

I challenged myself to create a different "fowl" every day for  week. I'm having a fun time coming up with cute ideas!!!

A Little Challenge….

So I thought I needed a bit of a challenge to get my creative juices flowing and I came up with the idea to create a different "fowl" each day for a week. Well The first fowl is an owl...hey, that rhymes! Anyway, here he is....

Isn't he a cutie?

I'm having fun making mini-houses. These little guys are very rustic and stark by design. I wanted them to look almost like folk art so I rely on the simple lines and colors to achieve that look. The texture of the clay finish also gives them that folksy sort of rough look I was seeking.

Mini Houses…

I'm having fun making mini-houses. These little guys are very rustic and stark by design. I wanted them to look almost like folk art so I rely on the simple lines and colors to achieve that look. The texture of the clay finish also gives them that folksy, sort of rough look I was seeking.  I did a few in brighter colors that look more tropical like a native village on some remote island so they have a totally different look but the idea is still simple lines and lack of detail to give these tiny treasures a special look all of their own. They are small enough to create an entire village on a shelf or window sill...even on your desk at work if office rules allow. I'm imagining how sweet they would be under a Christmas tree.....hmmmm....

$15 each or 2 for $25
