The Fairy Castle

It occurs to me that I've been pretty lax about posting lately and also that I haven't posted photos of some of the latest houses to be completed so I'll try to catch up a bit. This is the largest house that I've completed thus far. It's made from porcelain clay. The first time I've ever worked in porcelain and I don't entirely like the feel of it. It dries too quickly for my taste so I don't know if I'll be using it again though I've made some other smaller ones out of this material and I will finish the clay that I have left. This house is pretty heavy because of the size and because of the base on the tower and the heavy flower roof on it. It gave me quite a few technical challenges but I got it all together and it looks cute at night with a tea light in the smaller section. I love the "tile" roof though it gave me some problems with loose tiles that I had to re-attach. You'll notice that the colors of the glazes are much brighter when using porcelain clay. All in all I believe this "castle" is fit for a Fairy Queen!! 101_3298 101_3300

Love it and love the display in the garden. I especially love the little fairy people. You’re SO talented and retirement obviously totally agrees with you. Hope you are well. Warm regards, Debby

I can’t believe it’s been nearly a year since I’ve been here to visit and catch up on what you are making. I see you are still working with ceramics. You have really refined your style and I like what I see. This is a gorgeous fairy castle.

I look forward to visiting everyday this month.
