Morning Visitor…
We had a visitor in the back yard this morning. I believe he is a Penn State fan…a really BIG fan!! It was comical to watch him check out the Nittany Lion statue in our back garden.
He had himself a big breakfast from the bird feeder under the branches of the tree during a steady rainfall. My dogs nearly went crazy as he lazed around here for over half an hour and then ambled off looking for another treat. Just another day here in paradise!!
This month, at The Creative Everyday website, we are exploring the use of the color red.
Using red to express emotion….
This month, at The Creative Everyday website, we are exploring the use of the color red. As Leah, the moderator and resident artist explains, the color red is very evocative of emotion. It can be an angry stimulus as in fire, a soothing one as in a sunset, a celebratory one as in the fireworks of a July 4th event and so on. Someone mentioned that I use the color a lot when they viewed one of the walls at the Cabin Cafe at my opening reception, “homecoming”. As you can see by the above photo of that wall, they are absolutely correct…I love to use the color red in many ways in my art. I love the vibrancy and the contrast when used with other colors. So don’t be afraid to use red in your work. It sure brings a canvas to life!!
In Loving Memory of the sweetest Mom that ever lived….
In Loving Memory…
Good Night Mom
A world without a Mother
Is a strange and alien place
Not to sit and hold her hand
Or see her precious face
But I’ll feel her presence always
In this world she left behind
In the beauty God created
… A comfort I will find
The gentle morning breezes
Will be her special kiss
The sweetest scent of lilac
Will be the smile I miss
Her laughter will be the birdsong
That wakes me from my sleep
A hug will be the snowfall
…Pure and soft and deep
In every woodland creature
I will see her kindness there
The answer to my questions
And strength to help me bear
The things I needed Mom for
Are too numerous to name
But her blessings will surround me
In a peaceful summer rain
And when I want to say good night
My gaze will wander far
I’ll lift my head and see her
As I whisper to a star…
